Jean-Claude Bernardet (one of Brazil’s main film scholars) plays the movie director of a fake documentary that was never completed. "FilmPhobia" works as a ‘making of’ of this fictitious documentary film. It’s a film about fear in contemporary society. The main belief of the documentary director – Jean-Claude – is that the only image that is authentic, real and truthful is actually that of a human being challenged by his/her phobia.
