A boy sets fire to his home. The father declares he's going to shoot his son, but gives him a small hope of survival: they negotiate the arrangement under which one shot will be fired. All contingencies are accounted for, except for the one that occurs. The struggle between youthful dreams and aged resignation plays out in a timeless and barren landscape. The Terms blends a muted palette with its themes of isolation and loneliness, providing a brief glimpse into a microcosm isolated from our world in the literal sense, yet evocative of the universal themes of change, youthful idealism, and cynical despair.
