Seventeen-year-old Nham， lover of poetry， lives in the countryside of Vietnam as the man of the family with his mother and young sister-in-law. His father having passed away and his brother living far from the village， he too will leave as the draft is fast approaching. Because of loneliness from her husband" s absence， his sister-in-law Ngu has become attached to Nham. One day， Nham meets a beautiful and sophisticated woman and spends a sleepless night thinking of her. But there" s someone else to consider in this story of adolescence and maturity.
