Speaking in depth to a range of stand-up's most successful names, from Jack Dee to Simon Amstell, Jim Davidson and some top American stars, he explores their backgrounds and influences, and their passion for making people laugh.
Yentob also jonis Eddie Izzard backstage as he prepares to perform the first solo stand-up show at the Hollywood Bowl, and explores how stand-up comedy evolves, and its transferral to other mediums.

看不懂一开始文化起源的那部分，但是当代摇滚明星式的单口喜剧舞台样式来自于SNL的电视时代我算是明白了。美国作家说，单口喜剧演员是文化的净化者，他们吸收文化再通过自己的系统表现干净的版本，有道理。英国人说：establish,reaffirm,kill it——he is tall, he is handsome, he is stupid. 好经验

Stand-by comedy毫无疑问是一种自由有趣的载体来呈现私人化的观点，它也可以同其他艺术形式一样去让人rethink of ourselves。但终归到底最吸引我的还是好玩儿哈哈哈。by the way，Simon Amstell好可爱哇！
