When the management of the Paris Museum of Natural History decided that their vast collection of taxidermied wildlife was in need of restoration, Philibert decided that the 3-year process needed to be documented.
As the painstaking work of re-ruffling feathers and replacing tiny glass eyes and wings is thoughtfully observed, so too is the complex relationship between humans and animals, as the filmmaker grants a visceral subjectivity to these macabre and beautiful objects.

博物馆建筑的翻新(拆除、开挖、重建、精装、保洁)与动物标本的制作(剥制、塑形、填充、点睛、化妆)并置穿插 产生了奇妙的联系。无论建筑方还是布展方 都扮演着起死回生的术士角色;当然 他们的行动更凸显了一种生死错置的滑稽局面。幽默中带着一点哥特式的佻黠
