不仅颠覆「猫鼠追逐」题材的一贯传统，更将「打破第四面墙」发挥到了极致。片中老鼠不仅承认「已经看过这部动画」，最后又一语双关的表示「这鬼把戏都已经用完了」：表明上说是东西已经喝完，实际上是代表导演自嘲在无数次反转中已经用尽的动画套路，后设意味极强。有评论家认为本片隐喻了冷战的开端。
